Every cash-out point on the Mines curve carries the same 1% house edge — that's true at 1 mine and at 24. What "strategy" actually controls is how bumpy the ride is: how often you win small versus how rarely you win huge. Here's the honest version of what that trade-off looks like, and how to size a bet around it.

02 / Cash-out timing

There is no optimal stopping point.

Sites that promise a "best time to cash out" are selling a feeling, not math. The 1% house edge is baked into every single multiplier step — stopping at tile 2 instead of tile 5 doesn't change your long-run expected return, because each step is repriced to keep that same edge. What changes is variance: fewer, bigger swings versus more, smaller ones.

  • Low mines, shallow depth

    Small multipliers, high win rate. Good for testing a board or grinding a bonus wagering requirement without big swings.

  • Mid mines, mid depth

    The most "game-like" feel — real risk, real reward, without needing an extreme bankroll to survive a cold streak.

  • High mines, shallow depth

    You are buying a lottery ticket with better odds than an actual lottery. Expect long droughts between wins.

03 / Tile position

No tile is safer than any other.

Some sites publish "heatmaps" claiming corners or edges get mined less often. They don't — mines are placed uniformly at random across all 25 tiles, every round, with no memory of past rounds. A heatmap built from a small sample will always show some tiles looking "hot" and others "cold," purely from noise; run it longer and the pattern dissolves and a different one appears in its place. It's the same illusion covered on the predictor page — just applied to position instead of timing.

Why a heatmap looks convincing anyway

With 25 tiles and, say, 3 mines, each tile has a 12% chance of holding a mine on any given round. Track 100 rounds and pure chance alone will make some tiles show up "mined" 16–18% of the time and others 6–8% — a visually striking spread that has nothing to do with the game and everything to do with small-sample variance. Casinos don't publish per-tile probabilities because there aren't any to publish: every tile is identical until the layout is drawn.
