A ball dropped on a Plinko board is a coin flip, repeated.
At every peg the ball bounces left or right with equal (50/50) probability. Over n rows that's a binomial distribution: the chance of landing in bucket k is exactly C(n,k) ÷ 2ⁿ — the same formula behind a coin-flip streak, not a "hot" or "cold" board. The middle buckets are reachable by the most paths, so platforms pay them the least; the edge buckets are reachable by only one path each, so they pay the most.
Higher risk settings don't change these probabilities — only the multiplier labels change, shifting payout from the common centre buckets to the rare edge buckets.
