The full Mines
payout chart.
Pick a mine count. Every tile from the first reveal to a full clear, with its exact win chance and multiplier — no rounding, no "up to" figures, the same formula as the Mines calculator.
How many safe tiles you've revealed so far this row.
The number of distinct tile combinations that keep you alive at this depth — bigger isn't better or worse, just the count behind the odds.
The probability your first N picks are all safe, given the mine count.

Low mine counts climb gently. High counts spike late.
Switch the selector to 1 mine and scroll the table — the multiplier barely moves per tile, because almost every tile is safe anyway. Switch to 20 or 24 and the early rows look nearly identical, then the last few rows jump by an order of magnitude each step. That shape is the whole story of Mines variance, in numbers rather than a description of it.
Same three clicks, same 1% house edge underneath every one of these — only the mine count changed. That's the trade-off the strategy guide walks through in more depth.
The table is the reference. Here's the rest.

What mine count actually changes (variance) and what it never changes (the 1% edge), plus bankroll sizing.
Is there a Mines predictor?
Why the mine layout can't be predicted, and why "safer tile" claims don't hold up.
